A Storyletter About Death & Dying
The Mrityu is a storyletter about death and dying customs in South Asian cultures, especially in the Indian subcontinent. It explores diverse historical, anthropological, and sociological aspects of death within this cultural habitat.
Death haunts us all. It's considered a bad omen to talk about it. However, death is apodictic truth. And mankind has created rituals to help overcome this inevitability. Several philosophical viewpoints help people deal with their finality.
My blog is an attempt to decode the meaning behind complex rituals, traditions, and customs through the manifestation of art, science, music, food, and psycho-social spaces around death, especially in the Indian subcontinent.
I am not constrained by a cyclical calendar when it comes to writing. I write when I find something interesting. My newsletter (I call it a storyletter) is delivered to your inbox as soon as it is published, and it is free.
